One last stroll under the Florida sky

Endeavour begins preparations for its final flight.

The ferry was coming to an end, and it is now clearer than ever both in Earth and in space ... and that is that while the Discovery is currently docked in the International Space Station , lives and their last days in service, one of his brothers, The Endeavour , is taking the first steps toward what will be his last mission.

Following the same path that both he and the other ferries have crossed again and again over the past three decades, the Endeavour was transported from the processing hangar to the assembly building ( Vehicle Assembly Building or VAB), where work will start to attach the external fuel tank and the two thrusters. It's the same process that followed the Discovery months ago and the same will follow the Atlantis in future ... and all they represent, represent and represent respectively the last time after years of frequent visits.

In Endeavour faces and 25 th and final mission, STS-134 , during which he delivered to the ISS could be considered the scientific instrument most advanced ever sent to the station, Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer, a particle detector designed to search for evidence of antimatter and dark matter by measuring cosmic rays reach Earth . It will be the final legacy that we leave the youngest of the ferries.

The Arrival of the Endeavour to the Vehicle Assembly Building was followed by hundreds of workers associated with the Space Shuttle program, invited to witness the event and photograph the vehicle, as strange as that is most do not they had ever seen up close. Also two of his future crew, Gregory Johnson and Roberto Vittori, we can see in the bottom center of the image with characteristic blue dresses, also attended the event.
